End Of the Line... For Now.

posted by Wally on Oct. 21, 2008

Well, folks... It is finished... for the most part. There was still some things to be done. Certainly something to put in for Items and Misc... Though I left Misc. alone, I did, however, I put in a link on Items to the Dojo's Items Encyclopedia. Of course, I fully intend to make our own encyclopedia with more information and full of fun facts and idioms. I also took it upon myself to make a secrets page, which is really a pag ethat lists every stinkin' unlockable aspect, and for good measure, Sakurai's Trivia section DIRECTLY copied/pasted at the bottom, which is painfully obvious, 'cause it took me forever to do the top Unlockables section. Part of the unlockables is a list of every stinkin' My Music song to be had... since we had the streaming Brawl soundtrack player, I thought we might as well have a list of everything you don't have immediately upon first playing the game. I also ALPHABETIZED the whole, stinkin' thing, so be grateful... :P

Anyways, be a sport, and donate five bucks so we can keep doing cool stuff. Look to the button to the left. Thank you.

In conclusion, since I don't know when my next update will be, I took the liberty of searching the web for some games to embed... which I did. Note the new Games link in the sidebar. Click it when you want to waste some time. And, finally, to give you a reason to visit daily... Garfield!

W00t! My work is done.

posted by Wally on Oct. 19, 2008

Finally, I have defeated the task of uploading the entire fan fiction collection, what all Zoom had saved, anyways. There are a couple of good stories in there, one very notable one being Capt. Falcon's (Lt. Jessie) Falcon Chronicles fic. Even though it's only 9 chapters in, it's a very good and lengthy read. A must-read, even if you're not an F-Zero fan.

I've finished with all the characters and stages, so there should be no more trace of the old layout. I also made some minor changes while I was at it. The costumes images are the only thing that still need fixing. It'll become obvious once you see them.

Also, be sure to check out the music player! I got hold of an archive of every single song (including sound ripped from all the trailers and such) and uploaded them. I even took the time to organize them all in order, 'cause they were all out of whack. The only thing is that these all play twice... It's like they were on a loop, 'cause they begin to play a third time, but then fade out... Of course, this may or may not please some people. Anyways, I'm excited about it, 'cause we're really the only Smash Bros. website to stream all of Brawl's music. Rejoice! Spread the word! Staple flyers to your friends' foreheads so no one misses it!

To wrap things up, I've got about 2 days left on my Dreamweaver trial. I've still got a couple of stages that need descriptions... I think one was the Yoshi's Island Melee stage, the temple Melee stage, the Pokémon Stadium... I don't remember, there might be one or two more.

Other than that, a few tweaks and little things here and there could be done... and I could make pages for items, secrets, and misc. but I couldn't do that in time. Besides, doe sanybody think those would be necessary? Heck, what other pages do y'all think we should have? Put it up for discussion and votes on the forums, which will always be active... and... don't tell anyone... but it will be in for a makeover soon enough... Hee hee.

Thank you all for your help with updating the info on character pages. If anyone wants to submit fan fiction, e-mail them to me, and I'll put 'em up when I get the $300 to regain Dreamweaver.

Rock Band 2 for Wii

posted by Wally on Oct. 16, 2008

Well, we all know that the biggest stipulation for Wii owners about Rock Band was the lack of online functionality, the excuse being that the Wii has no harddrive. Well, now Rock Band 2 fixes that, giving us the option of saving stuff to the SD card so we can transfer them to the Wii's memory in order to play them. I personally hadn't even been paying attention to the whole Rock Band/Guitar Hero scene, because apparently GH4 is due to release some time, called World Tour, that will rival Rock Band with drums and such. Why they didn't call it Band Hero is beyond me, maybe they didn't want to have a name similar to Rock Band. One stipulation that I discovered about GH World Tour is that your characters can be your favorite Mii, which is kinda cool, if you ask me. Anyways, for in-depth information on all the news, including what all Rock Band 2 for Wii will and will not have and to compare the set lists for both games, and more, visit IGN's site: Rock Band 2 launch center and Guitar Hero World Tour launch center.

New Layout

posted by Wally on Oct. 13, 2008

Well, it wasn't easy... I kept hitting snags. But, finally, I managed to complete switching the index page's layout to a brand new, sleeker look. Of course, I still have to convert the rest of the site (mostly), but that's gonna take a while, so don't expect to see changes in other pages for a while.

Anyways, I've set up a poll. W00t! Now we have polls thanks to htmlpoll.com. Let me know what you think of the layout and post specifics in the forums. Thank ye!

Mario Kart Wii Tournaments

posted by Wally on Oct. 11, 2008
Well, just recently I discovered that Mario Kart Wii comes with a Mario Kart Channel that lets players do stuff like... compete in tournaments. Heh. And apprently they're already on to number #12. Posted on Nintendo's Japanese website were the details. Apparently, to win this one, you have to get the fastest time on Luigi's Circuit with the conditions that you use karts only, no items, and just using the Wii wheel, not the GameCube controller... and don't think they can't tell... because they can... they know... everything! Mwa ha ha ha haaa! ...Nah, I really don't know how that works. If you can read Japanese, feel free to see for yourself.

By the way, I threw together a Smash Unlimited banner for us so we've got something just a little more appealing to the eyes... I guess. Thanks be to the almighty GIMP, the free alternative to Photoshop.

It's 12:19, Folks!

posted by Wally on Oct. 10, 2008

Well, it's been close to a week, and I've managed to update the images for all the character pages. I still need to do this li'l "through the years" thing for 6 characters. Just a little thing I'm puttin' in for characters from SSB 64. So far, I've just got Mario and Link done in that category.

As far as fan fiction is concerned... I have to say... I didn't remember anything about them, and when I was reading the first couple of stories, I was optimistic. Then, everything just started going downhill. To put it simply, there is some serious crap in there... If you've got plenty of time to waste, then, by all means, read up, but if not, then I recommend just sticking with authors like Mark Conrard, Samantha, and JayC. Oh, and Smashbrosfreak is fairly entertaining as well... and, well, there was one story that was crap, but it.... well, there is one line that just triggered my funny bone: Falco Appears by Smash Master. Go ahead and read it, it's super short.

Oh, and one note... I haven't written any of the little summaries about the stories. A few of the first ones were by Zoom, and the rest were by ComradeSAL. I don't mean to speak ill of... anyone, but he just did a horrible job keeping the stories legible. I mean, c'mon, he would put in his own footnotes... and even change a few facts as he saw fit. I'm sorry, but that's just plain disrespectful, and it really ruins the reading experience. Take JayC's story, for instance... Obviously, Marth and Roy aren't brothers, but they were in his story, and if he wants them to be brothers, then let him. Maybe if I have time I'll go back and remove Comrade's blatant crap, at least from that story.

Oh, and a P.S., if you see some tiny text, that was me. I decided against it later but I didn't remember where I stuck 'em, so... Yeah, you might see a little note in a couple of places.

Anyways, I've been through the first half... I found that I got through things a lot faster if I just didn't read them; so if there's stuff like double quotation marks, please lemme know. Also, I've been thinking about the layout for the site and stuff, and I've got some ideas that I want to try... eventually. Uh, let's see... I think that's it for now... Be sure to post in the forums, and check back later.

Wah!

Late Night Fiction Posting

posted by Wally on Oct. 4, 2008
Hey, folks, guess what I just did? I uploaded several stories from ye olde years of Smash Bros. Online. There are actually some decent stories we had... while others, well... You can judge for yourself. Zoom, ye olde webmaster, had each story's chapter posted seperately from the other, but I decided to be different and put all chapters under one title. I used Zoom's original descriptions he posted with each title, usually the first one if there was more than one chapter or part, tweaked a little to say story instead of first chapter, that kind of thing. I've had to go through and read each one I posted 'cause for some strange reason all the quotation marks had been doubled, plus a majority of the early ones had little punctuation flaws that I would fix if I caught it. For the most part, I left the story pretty much as is, even if there were a ton of grammar errors. *shrug* One more thing, none of them had italics, which I am sure got lost, so I tried to discern whether something might have been italicized.

Oh, are you wondering where I got my hands on all of the old stuff? It's all thanks to the very helpful Neon, so give her kudos. Also, thanks to her, I've got all the old character bios, which were abotu Melee, so I can't really use them; some old "tips" which I haven't looked at yet, but if memory serves me right, they were little snippets submitted by people tipping off everyone on little things one could do like being able to levitate with Mario's cyclone attack... remember, these were all for Melee; also Zoom's updates up to a certain point, I believe; and the "editorials" which were articles that either described the aspects or involved one's rants or else what-have-you. I'll pick through them and see if there's anything interesting once I'm done with characters, stages, and fan fiction.

Speaking of fan fiction, there is a ton of this stuff... And going through them all will definitely take me a while before they're all up there. So if there are only 2 chapters of something right now, I might stumble across chapter 3 much later, if it exists.

Peace out!

Willkommen

posted by Wally on Oct. 1, 2008
Welcome to Wally's Waluigi Page! Where we talk about nothing but Waluigi, Waluigi, Waluigi, Waluigi, and a little about Wario! Wah hah hah hah! Wha-t a Wah-derful Wah-ay to spend the wah-eek! Wah hah! Oh, wait... no, this ain't a Waluigi page... It's a Smash Bros. website. Darn it all! Well, I guess I'd better start plugging.

This website, right now, just has li'l bios on the characters and stages, but, we have much more in store... Like the fan fiction! I do intend on supplying y'all with cool little things about the characters and places, and I intend on supplying images for each attack and costume. Plus, I've got to get descriptions of each character and almost each stage written up. Thankfully, I've got a buddy who has agreed to write a "bio" of sorts about Peach and Yoshi, so maybe that'll leave me less writing to do. Woo.

Anyways, what I really want to concentrate on for this website is the fan fiction. That was what Zoom did with the original incarnation. He had started out with a regular fan site, but started putting up articles (which is another thing I wanna do) and fan fiction, and he decided to focus his website on this instead of just the typical informational stuff. So, yeah, that's my goal. If you want to help in any way, shape, or fashion (that includes criticism and pointing out broken links and whatnot), please e-mail me or send me a message on the forums. Thanks. Keep lookin' here to see what I put up. Thanks.
